Using the Comic-Making module, fans of your TV show, film, or product brand could create ‘branded personalized’ stories in a 1,2,3 or 4-frame comics. Comic submissions are uploaded, moderated, and then posted and shared by the fans. The most-voted creation/s win prizes at the end of the contest. Every interaction with the contest also promotes your original content – growing your audience-base of fans and increasing ancillary sales.

Step 1: Setting up the contest

Through an admin panel, you upload images from your original content: background settings, characters, props, background music, sound clips, and more. Additional libraries of themed props, talking bubbles, and exclamations can also be included to provide fans with even more elements to add to their creations – the more fun props and special effects available – the more people will participate in the contest. You set the start and end dates for the contest, prizes, terms and launch the contest on a sub-domain on your web site.

Step 2: Fan-art submissions

Fans enter the contest. They signup, login, and start making comics using the popular content by:

1. Selecting a background image from the original content (or uploading an image)

2. Selecting characters, resizing, rotating, and positioning them in the frame
3. Adding props from the original content, and/or themed clip-art props – positioning them in funny ways

4. Adding talking bubbles, writing funny text (or pre-made bubbles with text or exclamations)

5. Writing a title for their creation + submitting it to the contest

> They are notified that the content will be moderated before posted online, and they will receive an email notification when it is posted on the contest gallery for votes

Step 3: Submission moderation

A moderator approves or declines content entries during the course of the contest. This could be done once a day, every few days, week, or more time depending on the contest situation. There are moderation companies that operate as call-centers for UGC moderation and can handle even large content volumes. Note that if your contest actually received many fan-art submissions then that is a very good sign, as every post will be additional promotion for your content or product brand. The cost of moderation can be very minimal for low volumes, and grows as the contest also generates marketing results and sales.

Step 4: Concluding the contest

When the contest period the system will automatically prevent any more entries from being made, and you can announce the winner/s and winning entries easily. Prizes are distributed to the winners and corresponding publicity can also be done.
