In support of responsible drinking a whiskey brand invites customers to make a public social media commitment to never drink and drive. This is done by sharing a preset message on their Facebook or Twitter accounts. In return for participating in the campaign the brand promises to provide a million kilometers of safe rides home around the globe.

Commitment_ContestLed by celebrity car racers this inspirational cause-marketing campaign is designed to bring the topic of drinking and driving to attention during the holiday season.

The is a great concept  and the execution is easy to use with a simple hashtag on the automated messages.

The posts generated simply say: “I’ve just joined the pact. Make your commitment to never drink and drive. Please RT” (with branded hashtags).

One thing that could improve on this type campaign is Visual UGC. For example, if there was an image of a pledge document where each pledge adds the person’s Avatar to it, forming the shape of a stop sign or other visual element, that would be more interesting. Any way to move from a theoretical concept to clear visualization of the situation can generate a bigger ‘wow’ effect and get more results from the campaign efforts.
